Lube is fantastic! It’s designed to make sex a bit wetter and more exciting, so it’s only natural that it ends up all over your things and your body—it can get quite messy.

If you’re concerned about getting lube on your (or your partner’s) precious 300 thread-count sheets and Mongolian fur pillow, we understand (and you’re very considerate). However, despite having nice bed linens, the mess shouldn’t deter you from using lube.

Applying lubricant without creating a mess requires a careful and systematic approach. Here are some steps to follow:

  1. Prepare the Area:

    • Clean the area where you’ll be applying the lubricant. Remove any dirt, debris, or old lubricant.
    • Place a drop cloth, newspaper, or cardboard under the area to catch any drips or spills.
  2. Choose the Right Lubricant:

    • Select a lubricant suitable for the specific application. There are different types, such as oils, greases, and sprays.
  3. Use Appropriate Tools:

    • Use tools like brushes, applicator tips, or precision oilers to apply the lubricant accurately.
    • For spray lubricants, use the nozzle or straw attachment to direct the spray precisely.
  4. Apply Sparingly:

    • Start with a small amount of lubricant. It’s easier to add more if needed than to remove excess.
    • Apply the lubricant directly to the desired area, avoiding over spray or spills.
  5. Spread Evenly:

    • Use a clean cloth, brush, or your finger (with gloves) to spread the lubricant evenly.
    • Ensure that the lubricant covers all the necessary surfaces without pooling.
  6. Clean Up Excess:

    • Wipe away any excess lubricant immediately with a clean cloth.
    • For spray lubricants, spray a small amount on a cloth and then apply to the surface to minimize mess.
  7. Store Properly:

    • Keep lubricants in sealed containers to prevent leaks and spills.
    • Store in a cool, dry place to avoid degradation.

By following these steps, you can apply lubricant efficiently and effectively without creating a mess.

There are many different types of lubes available, and some are tidier than others. Additionally, there are plenty of application techniques and post-sex cleanup methods that will prevent your bed from looking like an oil spill occurred.
